Seven Lions reached out to us to create a promo video for his upcoming tour with Tritonal and Kill The Noise. The objective was to create an animation that can serve two purposes. The first being a stand-alone piece to be used as a teaser and the second to be paired up with live action tour footage that would be released on sale date. The challenge to this project is that we had to design concept art that was in line with Seven Lions' existing artwork. The existing art lives on a 2D space which created the obstacle of creating depth and dynamic movement when animated. In a 2D space, creating separation relies heavily on composition, light/shadows, and contrast. We pushed the boundaries of parallax where it almost felt surreal, but it was necessary to achieve the depth we were looking for.
